Job Description
Senior Manager Contracts, based Reading salary TBA up to 50k
Applicants will need a proven recent track record of working on MoD/Defence type work
Applicants will need to have Extensive experience across a typical range of positions within a Commercial environment having led the commercial aspects of complex bids from a Prime Contractor perspective
Thorough knowledge of UK (MoD), EU Government and NATO commercial procurement laws and regulations, cost accounting standards, customer acquisition procedures.
Thorough understanding of Partnering principles and the implications of UK and EU Competition Law
Degree in Business Studies and formal Management Qualification. LLB would be an advantage
In depth knowledge of Commercial Terms and Conditions and ability to analyse, draft and negotiate legally binding agreements
Customer focused including understanding of customer requirements and customer care. Confident to deal at all management levels both internally and with Customers/Suppliers
Proven competency of ability to develop team: appraisals/goal setting, growing and training, development and coaching of team. Succession planning based on business needs. Proven ability to mentor junior members of the team
The role holder will provide leadership to a team of Contracts Officers accountable for all customer contracts and direct sub-contracts related to the business area. The role holder shall have a high degree of autonomy referring to Manager, Commercial for Strategic issues and unusaul contract conditions.
Commercial leadership in high value Bids that include significant development of hardware and software for air, land and sea applications in both civilian and military end use applications. The job holder has responsibility for the execution of the resulting contracts.
Responsible for the day to day management of his/her team. As senior a member of the Commercial Department the role holder may also deputise for the Manager, Commercial in his absence. (Includes authorisation of PIEA\'s TAA\'s, quotes and bids to empowered DoA)
This role requires effective and timely decision making consistent with company objectives and key competencies in team management.
Write and negotiate agreements with Customers, Partners, Suppliers and the like that innovatively overcome commercial and contractual obstacles while presenting the company as a responsible supplier and/or Prime Contractor.
People management.
